Gajar ka halwa recipe

Introduction : 

Gajar ka halwa refers to Dessert made up of Carrot. It is also commonly known as Gajrela, Gajar pak.

It is Indian based sweet dessert. Mostly made in winter season.

Carrot halwa is made with fresh red carrots and also we can use Chinese carrots as a substitute.

Preparation time :

It takes 45 to 50 minutes to make Gajar ka halwa.

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 kilograms of Carrots
  • 1/2 liter Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Cardamom powder ( ilachi powder )
  • 125 gram sugar ( to taste )
  • 10-12 chopped cashews
  • 10-12 almonds



Method of preparation :


1.  Wash, peel and grate all the carrots.

2. Now add ghee in a large pot ( Kadai ). Add grated carrots when the fumes arises and cover it with a lid.

3. Let it cook for 10 minutes and then add milk and powdered sugar and again let it cook for 5 minutes.

4. Add cardamom powder and eventually toss the cashew and almonds in a pan in ghee for crunchy taste. 

5. Add the dry fruits and cook for a while.

6. You can also garnish it with mawa.
